We have seen it before and Prashant Gopa, of BusinessWeek.com, writes about it in a recent on-line article, Up and Coming Neighborhoods: Great Buying Opportunities:
Artistic people like to live where it is gritty, near neighbors who are tolerant of noise and odd behavior, and where the price is right.
According to Gopa, these creative people and the energy they bring often results in urban renewal, which leads to investor interest- which drives up property values and ultimately, rents.
Businessweek.com has listed 15 “urban neighborhoods that artists have discovered and where adventuresome homeowners, willing to take a risk, are likely to see big returns in the coming decades.” On their list of up and coming neighborhoods is our own downtown Durham.
